One Stop Center Launched at Dar es Salaam Port
COMPETE
has worked with the Tanzania Port Authority to establish a One Stop
Center at the Dar es Salaam port. The One Stop Center was formally
launched on July 26th, with
USAID Tanzania Mission Director Robert Cunnane and Minister of State for
Private Sector Development and Investment Honorable Mary Nagu presiding
over the
launch. The goal of the OSC
is to create efficiency in the processing of clearance documents and streamlining
the processes, resulting in fewer days of cargo dwell time. The Dar es Salaam port is a strategic entry
and exit point for two major transit corridors: the Central Corridor running
through Tanzania to Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo; and
the Dar es Salaam Corridor, running southwest through Tanzania to Zambia and
Malawi.
